Well, It's been a little while since my last post and I have been working on a few things. I finished some lamp shades I was working on for my bedroom. This idea was posted on Just a Girl's Blog. You can link here if you would like to check it out http://justagirlblog.com/anthropologie-lampshade I love the way they turned out! And no sewing required - only used my glue gun! First, I purchased about two yards of burlap from Joann's fabric store. The burlap they had there is a natural color as shown and they also have a caramel color which is nice as well. I purchased some of each color and I'll use the caramel one for another project I have in mind. My lamp shades were gray so I wanted to cover up the gray by wrapping the shades in burlap. Next I cut strips of burlap with a rotary cutter about 1 1/2 inches wide and glued them on in a wavy pattern and filled in the empty space as needed in between. When everything is finished a trim off all of the loose strings to tidy it up a bit. After a few days of burning my fingers and a lot of "itchiness" my lamp shades are complete! My friend Sandy mentioned that next time I have to have a small bowl of cool water next to the glue gun to dip your fingertips into when they get that slight burn from the glue!
