Aftermath of Hurricane Sandy

Well, today was the first day back to school since we had hurricane Sandy visit us here in New Jersey. While our home was fine we had a few trees that fell down and a shudder that blew off and no electric for a week and two to three hour gas lines but, nothing too serious. We do have a boat that is in a boat rack down by the "Jersey Shore" and we are not able to get there yet to see what kind of damage has happened since the area is quite devastated and the area is closed down to protect the area from looting. Many of our friends or coworkers or children's teachers had lost their homes, cars, summer beach homes or boats. My thoughts and prayers are with them as they recover and start to rebuild.

The Jersey shore is a beautiful area where we love to go to walk along the beach and boardwalk and unfortunately the boardwalk in Seaside Heights is totally gone and washed away. They will hopefully be able to rebuild the area as soon as possible.

My parents lived in Bayville, NJ on the Barnegat Bay in an awesome townhouse and we have so many wonderful memories there. Going out on our family boat, swimming and then going back home to make some fresh seafood on the grill and spending the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa!! Well, Mom sold her house about a year ago and compliments of C.J. their neighbor he sent me some pictures of their once owned home.(which I miss so much!!!!) I'll post most of the pics in my next blog.

this picture is from Pt.Pleasant area a friend passed on to me :)

While the kids were off from school we had some fun and went out for lunch at cafe 360 in Freehold, NJ and we met Alli Mechanic an awesome reporter working on election day from the Patch which is a local newsreporting on twitter and facebook that I read their posts every day!!! I was so excited to meet her in person what a bright spot in my day! I didn't know that the Patch is owned by AOL and Huffington Post which I frequently visit on line! Good News right?

  1. Thanks for giving us your first hand account on the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. It is indeed great that you all survived the storm, and I will be praying for a speedy recovery.
