This week for Valentine's Day try making this heart healthy snack that you can put together in less than ten minutes and is a great after school or work snack.
Cheerio Banana on a skewer:
Gather up some ripe bananas, peel and slice bananas in half, roll them in your favorite yogurt. My son chose vanilla low fat. Another good choice would be Greek yogurt for extra protein. Sprinkle wheat germ on top of yogurt and roll the banana on the skewer in cheerios. Place the bananas on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and place in the freezer overnight. You will have your snack ready for when the kids run in the door after school and want a snack or have yourself a light snack before you run out to the gym.
Other variations would be to dip the banana in melted chocolate chips rolled in granola and shredded coconut, yogurt and drizzled honey with cinnamon or banana dipped in peanut butter then melted chocolate on top and then freeze. If you don't have skewers on hand simply slice the bananas in chunks!
Enjoy & let me know how you like them!
