I Can't help myself, I love Mason Jars and making anything I can think of! My first mason jar project was from Chris at Just a Girl Blog. She has really nice decorating ideas stop by and say Hello for me www.justagirlblog.com. So, today I thought I would make some painted mason jars with some glam!
My first stop was to my local hardware store where I picked out some premixed paint jars by Benjamin Moore. What's nice about these little paint jars is that you can try out a color to see if you like it and they have really nice paint colors. I also found some on sale for a dollar in the clearance section :) Happy dance! First I applied a thin coat of the paint with one of those sponge tip paint sticks that you can find in a craft store like Michael's and let each coat dry for about twenty minutes then apply a second thin coat of paint making sure not to paint it on too thick or you will get paint drips. After letting the paint dry for several hours or overnight I take a piece of sandpaper and sand a few spots to give a distressed look. You can skip the sanding part if you like, or if you have any paint drips you can sand them out and do some paint touch ups. I picked up some medium grit sand paper from the dollar tree store and purchased the mason jars on line from Amazon. Next step would be to apply a coat of sealer. I picked a matte finish spray paint from Home Depot that I sprayed around the jar and let dry for an hour. I decorated the mason jars with star fish and blingy craft store rings from Michael's or the dollar store and glued them on with E2000 glue also purchased at Michael's craft store. Have fun with the decorating part and use what you like. I have also glued on some silk flowers as well! The kids made some too, it was relaxing sitting around the table and painting on a nice summer day. Put some flowers inside and you have a 'lil fresh country bouquet for your table. We have a lavender farm in here on NJ where you can pick your own fresh lavender or dried bouquets like I have pictured here and it smells soooo heavenly and fragrant. If you have the chance pick some up it's a guaranteed mood lifter I promise!! I like the mason jars in groups scattered around. Match the colors to your outside patio or interior and your sure to get a lot of compliments! I'll have some more mason jar ideas for you each week this summer!Have fun and let me know how your mason jars turn out '
