After stopping by "Norway" a few weeks ago in Epcot - Orlando, Florida I felt some Disney Frozen inspiration coming on and found some Disney Frozen items for St. Peter's Thrift store. One very special Frozen item that I found browsing in Downtown Disney is a hard to find art print- ((you never know what will pop up when in Disney,)) was a gorgeous print of the Frozen crew, Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven. All of these characters are from the recently released Disney movie Frozen in case you don't have any little ones around. Let's make a Frozen picture Frame and a cupcake stand/birthday cake stand which will help set the theme for a Frozen Birthday Party.
Materials that you will need:
Pizzeria pizza stand or cake stand - Found spinning Pizzeria stand at the thrift store!
Spray Adhesive found at Michael's craft store by the glue section
White Spray paint or white craft paint to brush on if your doing this with the kids
White Glitter- I picked out 3 types from Michael's craft store a big & chunky iridescent glitter and two other types of white glitter.
Picture frame from the clearance section at Michael's or use what you have at home/thrift store
Glass shaker to mix glitter in found at Dollar Tree
First spray paint your frame and cake stand and let it dry over night. Then apply a spray paint adhesive and immediately following sprinkle on the mix of three different types of white glitter on top of the platter and picture frame. The three mix of glitter gives the look and texture of glittery white snow.
If you are making this project with the kids tell them that it is "Tinkerbelle dust". They can sprinkle on the pre mixed glitter with a glass sugar shaker that I found in the Dollar Tree and it makes it easier to not waste so much "Tinkerbelle dust". They can also hand paint by brush with white craft paint the frame and cake stand instead of spray painting.
After letting the glue and sparkles dry overnight spray paint on a top coat clear gloss to seal in the glitter so the glitter doesn't fall off so much. Some will because, it's glitter. I have to say thou it really stays on pretty good unless you rub it off.
When the frames are painted, glittered/glued, and gloss applied, while it might feel dry to the touch, make sure to let them dry overnight in between each step because, when the paint, glue and gloss mix they react to each other and while it feels dry to the touch it turns the paint a yellowish color and the glitter clumps up. Just a 'lil note from experience.
When the plate that you decorate is finished you can put on a white paper doily and place your cupcakes on top. I used this for display at the thrift store and put a Frozen hard cover book on it. Put your favorite princesses picture in the frame decorate the table with some paper snow flakes. There are some cute items to use with your Frozen themed birthday party you can find on Amazon.
Jen and her friend did some creative art work for the front windows at St Peter's Thrift store by painting Olaf and Princess Anna. I am sure that you can make a snow man and paint him on your window with the washable window paint (available at Michael's craft store). And for inside the store we painted and decorated the window up with Frozen merchandise. The picture is hung up at the thrift store so the children can enjoy.
Yours in all things Frozen!
