From The Sports Corner: Panthers Wide Receiver Out For The Year

Bad news for the Carolina Panthers as their star second year receiver Kelvin Benjamin is out for the year with an apparent torn acl injury. The cause of this injury was from a non-contact drill which is unfortunate since Benjamin had 144 targets last year which was the most among rookies. This is also unfortunate for fantasy football players who drafted him and now have to drop him. Other interesting stats include his 73 receptions, over 1000 yards receiving and 9 touchdowns on the year. Benjamin was ranked third among other rookies which is good since last year’s draft class involved stand out receivers like Mike Evans and Odell Beckham-Jr. This loss is devastating for the Panthers since they don’t have any other wide outs that can perform up to the expectations that Benjamin exceeded. One player that has to prove he is a worthy is rookie wide receiver Devin Funchess out of Michigan. One thing the Panthers fans do have to look forward to is how Cam Newton will play with new target Devin Funchess. If all goes well and Kelvin Benjamin returns healthy next year with another star wide out it can mean the Panthers and Newton will have one more target to improve their offense. Fans, coaches, and players alike, wish Kelvin Benjamin a speedy recovery and a huge return next season.
