Halloween Sugar Cookies

One of my favorite holidays is Halloween, the fall crisp cool air, the pretty leaves changing colors. and Cookies lol why not?! Here is an easy recipe for you to make with the kiddos or surprise them after school. I made the dough and I let my boys decorate a few of the cookies. You can bake up some spooky fun batches of cookies by picking up some fun sprinkles, edible coloring markers, and even bloodshot candy eyeballs at Michaels craft store. Enjoy the science lab cookie time with your gobblins and ghouls You will h with these test tube sprinkles and Halloween cookie cut out shapes that will have your family going batty for these cookies they are so good!

Ingredients:
1 1/2 Cups of softened butter
1 cup of sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla
3 1/2 cups of flour
add red and yellow foo coloring to make orange cookies optional
pick up your Halloween sprinkles at Michael's with a coupon of course! or at your supermarket

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Add sugar, vanilla, egg and beat well. Add flour one cup at a time, mix well. Dough will be soft.
Roll out small sections at a time and add a dash of flour as needed when it is too soft. for cut out coookies make sure sough isn't rolled out too thin or the cookie will not cut out of the cookie cutter. Place cookie on to your cookie sheet and decorate with sprinkles. Bake for 10 - 12 minutes. Allow cookies to cool on tray for 2 minutes then remove to a cooling rack. This is a nice not too sugary tasting cookie, we like them with sugar crystal sprinkles and then a few of the decorator white bone candy sprinkles on top. Have fun decorating they don't have to be perfect, it is all about making a memory together and the smell of baked cookies in the oven!
