Pictures from My Avery Garden

I wanted to share a website with you that I tumbled across called Avery's Bucket List which is about a baby named Avery Lynn Canahuati that passed away from SMA.
Her family made a website to bring awareness to her disease.  Here is the link on facebook:    https://www.facebook.com/AverysBucketList#!/AverysBucketList

And in case you don'T have facebook here is the link for her blog: http://averycan.blogspot.com/2012/

There is a song that you can download if you like and part of the proceeds benefit SMA. I'm looking forward to hearing it myself since I believe that music is good for the soul! I have decided to celebrate her life and build a garden that was bursting with flowers and vegetables. While Avery and her family went thru a painful situation we can share together the life of a beautiful baby and bring awareness to her disease and finding a cure. It's also a reminder for me to count my blessings and appreciate every day I have with my family. I wanted to make the garden a place to reflect, meditate on what life has to offer and to grow something that we could enjoy. I kept thinking Grow and Celebrate...Grow and Celebrate.

My backyard has been lacking in plant life except for some weeds and some lilac trees that were no longer so off to Home Depot and AC Moore and Wegman's Supermarket for a few supplies! Our new backyard garden is now called "Avery's Garden".

We started off planting a vegetable garden of cucumbers, tomatoes, and yellow squash in May and then a Sunset Maple Tree, a new spruce tree, and then a rose tree plant, two lillys, and two hydrangeas. Each week I tried to keep adding a little bit at a time. Only perennials so they would come back every year. I picked up one sunflowerat Wegman's :), and also planted a five root/bulbs of Peonies (one of my Dad's favorites)  from my friend Sandy! Next I would love to get something that attracts hummingbirds and butterflies! I have my left eye on a butterfly bush and some cone daisys I saw in Home Depot.(wink);)
So Miss Avery in celebration of you and all that you have given to me here are a few pictures of our Garden! <3 <3

Butterfly stopped by one morning!
